DEANCO Services, Inc. is committed
to local community involvement.
DEANCO management believes it is important to have a leadership role in the community in which we live. That's why we are involved in non-profit organizations like United Way.
In 2009, DEANCO was involved in the first annual Young Leaders United Touch-A-Truck event, a fund-raising event sponsored by United Way of Dutchess County. Our president, Andy DiPaul, was a speaker at the event, which was attended by the entire DiPaul family. DEANCO also provided a sweeper for the 'touch-a-truck' portion of the gathering.
As is usually the case, most people had not seen a sweeper up close before, and there were lots of questions about how it operated and how sweepers are used. Andy was able to educate people about the health and safety aspects of the power sweeping industry which, because it primarily operates at night, most people have not thought much about.
Overall, the first-ever event was such a success that there's no question it will become an annual one. Here are more details, excerpted from the thank you letter provided by Anne M. Beaulieu, President and CEO of United Way of Dutchess County. With the letter is the photo she sent along:

Dear Mr. DiPaul,
Thank you so much for joining us at the Young Leaders United first Annual Touch-A-Truck event on July 12. Your sweeper was a great addition to the event and you and your son were so wonderful in speaking with all the families.
I hope you will enjoy this photo of the event; you can find more at www.unitedwaydutchess.org. Your participation truly made this an event to remember. Together we welcomed over 1,500 family members, helping us raise over $10,000 for United Way of Dutchess County! Thank you!
In addition to having fun with the more than 40 vehicles at the event, hundreds of children passed through the Child Development Tent where they learned about simple activities that improve early childhood development. And over one hundred families received Child IDs done by the New York Masonic Safety Identification Program, and received car safety seat checks from Alamo Ambulance.
The funds that you helped raise through this event contribute to United Way of Dutchess County's Community Fund. Last year alone, your United Way helped almost 50,000 of your friends, colleagues and neighbors through our funded partners and programs.
Your participation at the Touch-A-Truck event helped raise the funds and create the awareness that your United Way needs to fulfill our mission of building a stronger and healthier Dutchess County. We hope that you enjoyed with your experience with us this year, and look forward to your participation for years to come. THANK YOU!
